Fruitbier is een erg brede verzameling verschillende bieren en niet echt een bier stijl. De overeenkomst is het feit dat de brouwer fruit (of fruitsap) aan bier toevoegt tijdens de vergisting. De bieren hebben uiteenlopende alcoholpercentages. Vaak gebruiken brouwers steenvruchten (bijvoorbeeld perzik, kers of abrikoos), maar ook frambozen, bananen of appels. Alles kan. Sommige fruitbieren zijn aangezoet. Van bitters uit hops proef je in de regel zo goed als niets meer.
